Steering wheel angle sensor
To start, yes I have searched.
I recently installed a new steering wheel with a hub that wasn't spaced properly. When I tightened it down I heard a crunch, so I pulled the wheel off and put the stock wheel back on. Now my turn signals don't cancel and I get the five beeps. The bushing that fits into the steering wheel is still intact, so I'm assuming I mesed up the sensor itself. Is there a way to just unplug that sensor and have the power steering still work? |
Are you sure the transfer bush is intact?
There should be two tits on the top that fit into the back of the hub and two smaller tangs on the bottom that fit slots in the sensor. |
I'm sure. The crunch I heard was a section of the angle sensor (black ring under the white plastic) breaking off. I unplugged the sensor and I still get the beep, so I'm going to the junkyard tomorrow to pull another sensor.

I did a similar thing when installing my Momo wheel. All I had to do was take the wheel and adapter back off, adjust the inner and outer white rings so the arrows match up, line up the 2 prongs on the inner ring with the 2 holes in the back of the wheel adapter, bolt it back together and everything worked fine. Are you sure it actually broke or is it just misaligned?
