Steering trouble
My steering is very precise as it always had been, i have an 86 with manual steering and at any speed over 50mph it shakes back and forth real hard and quick it doesn't affect the drivning but just gets anoyying and makes your arms numb after a long drive any suggestions?

i know shit all about this but maybe your tires could effect it? your steering colum?
|
Inbalanced tires, suspension out of spec, or warped break rotors could be the culprit.

Well it used to be four lug and i switched to 5 using parts from a gxl of the same year but it did this before i switched, On the 4 lug i had brand new rotors, and now on the 5 lig the wheels hare off the gxl and have new tires and are balenced, it also was just aligned, only things i can think of are something on the steering any other ideas?

did you replace the bearings when you swapped hubs?
And I am assuming that you tightened the hubs to the correct ft/lbs? |
I have heard the idler arms go bad pretty easily, and that usually causes ths steering to shack or be loose.

where and what are the idler arms? sorry if its a dumb question

Try the drive shaft. My CV joints went out and the play in the shaft did the same thing you are talking about.
