Starts then dies.
 

Hey, there's tons of threads on this, but most of it is very confusing to me as I don't understand anything about wiring...at all....So with that said:

A previous owner decided to mount an immobilizer and SAFC with no skills or finish at all, so things are hacked up.

Problem:

The car starts, runs for a few seconds then immediatly shuts off. It start fine, very quickly, purrs nicely then as if it changes ECU modes or something, it just shuts right off, as if one was turning the key off. Any help, or direction?

have you tried removing those components and fixing the harness?

I have not, simply because I do not understand wiring. I miss my 12A :(

Here's a possibility you should check. The car will act exactly as you describe if the resistance of the water thermo sensor is too low. The car will start, but as soon as it starts to adjust the mixture (injector duty cycle) it goes too lean and dies. it does this because the water thermo sensor is 'reporting' that the engine is warm (when it is not) and the computer adjusts the mixture leaner than what it can run on.

The thermo sensor is on the back side of the coolant tower, below, forward and to the right of the alternator. There is a two pin connector with a wire brace that snaps overcenter and holds it on. If the connector has fallen off, put it back on. If it is on, pull it off and check the resistance of the sensor. There is a table in the online FSM that tells you what its resistance should be at various temperatures.

It may also be that the resistance is too high (like, maybe an open circuit?), which would cause the car to run too rich.

I tried this just the other day while working on my car, and with the connector off, it acted just as you describe.

Check to see that the AFM is plugged IN.(it will start up and die if it is NOT).
