starting problems...
 

Hi, I have an 88 TII (10th ann.). I apologize for the length of this thread, but I had to explain my problem thoroughly and I hope someone will be able to help me out.

I installed the vacuum part of an autometer boost gauge a couple of days ago and it was working great. My car was running great also. Today I went out to install a walbro hp fuel pump and finish the boost gauge job (the backlight wiring part). I installed the fuel pump first (following all the instructions) and before putting all the carpet and what not back, I wanted to check to see if everything was in order. The car started FINE. I let it run for about 10-15 seconds and shut it down.

Next was the backlight on the boost gauge. I just used the existing 12v and ground wires from the cigarette backlight bulb and butt spliced them the wires going to the boost gauge bulb. **This is where I wished I tried starting the car...**
Anyway, instead of doing that, I went ahead and put in my FCD, which I don't need now, but figured it wouldn't hurt... maybe not.

Anyway, I closed everything up and tried to start it up. I'm not quite sure what the engine did then, because all I noticed was my stock boost gauge's needle shot strait up. My new autometer one stayed at 0. I popped the hood and removed the FCD, plugging the original plug back into the pressure sensor.

I went back to start my car and all it would do is act like it's gonna turn over but won't. I thought it may have flooded itself, but removing the proper fuse didn't help. Messing with it further, I noticed when I turn the key to the off position from just having the power on, a sound emits which sounds sort of like speakers shuting off or just power cutting off (??); that's never happened before though.

There seems to be enough fuel in the tank and I've tried to jump it too, it just won't turn over... was there something I forgot to do when I installed the fuel pump or boost gauge wiring? Any help would be much appreciated, as I am at the end of my semester at college and need to get home.

I just tried to start it again today and now the battery's completely dead... what's goin on?!?

My brother-in-law has a 10th any. also. Back to your problem maybe you can put the stock fuel pump an see if anything changes. Also check all the main and regular fuses. Good Luck.
