starting problem...please help :(

my car can not start, when I turn the ignition key the car loses electrical power - everything dies. ...you can only hear warning beep, but fading away..:(
I have new battery, new terminals, the fuses are fine, I've just replaced alternator and starter.
I'm thinking of ECU and CPU boxes

thank you in advance guys...

dead battery or loose battery terminals

HAILERS Nov 12, 2006 05:36 PM

I'm thinking about how you just changed the starter and might not have installed the gnd wire on the LONG starter bolt good. THAT wire on the LONG starter bolt is the main gnd for just about everything in the long run.

Or the new battery cable end fittings just are not on good.

I'm betting the lotto that the ECU and CPU have squat to do with your problem.

It's weird ...I just bought a new battery so it can't be that.

the terminals are new and not loose.

I checked everything that I did last on it....it doesn't make any sense.

I've gotten some new batteries for our customers' cars that were too weak to start a car. Never know how long they are sitting on the shelf before they are sold. Get a bettery tester and give it a load test.

mali_FC Nov 12, 2006 06:22 PM

I hope that's the issue..... I was able to start it with a jumper cables...I didn't hold it long and when I shut the engine off I wasn't able to turn it back on.

RXnos1200 Nov 12, 2006 06:41 PM

turn on the headlights and try starting it. if it goes dim then I'd say that the battery has some issues. good luck.

mali_FC Nov 12, 2006 06:59 PM

I lose electrical power as soon as I turn the ignition.....:(

RXnos1200 Nov 12, 2006 07:05 PM

battery has issues

RXnos1200 Nov 12, 2006 07:07 PM

get another battery from one of your friend's car and see what happens.

mali_FC Nov 12, 2006 11:30 PM

I replaced my battery with another one (new) and same problem occurs.

....I'm really confused now..:(

+1

I had brand new battery cables on my car and they didn't work for crap (don't get the painted ones).

HAILERS Nov 13, 2006 09:03 AM

His battery cables are the problem. Either at one end OR the other.

He really NEEDS to do what is asked of him. HE was asked to turn his headlights on and give the results. He did not. He turned his key to On and said he loses electrical power. HE did not do what was asked. TURN THE HEADLIGHTS ON and tell the man what you observe. NOT turn the key to ON. TURN THE HEADLIGHTS ON.

Did they come up? Did the stay bright?

I meant battery terminal connectors.

RXnos1200 Nov 13, 2006 10:06 AM

check the ground wire too. make sure the one going to your block or trans is making good contact.

It seems like anything I try to turn on in my car loses power and dies...
I already tried to turn the lights on, and they did not work.

RXnos1200 Nov 13, 2006 08:15 PM

double post for some reason.

RXnos1200 Nov 13, 2006 08:18 PM

was everything working before you replaced the starter and alternater and terminals? seems like there is a bad connection somewhere. seems more like on the positive side. check the wire to the alternator again and make sure it has a good connection. check the battery with a volt meter and see what you get. check and see if your getting good voltage at your fuse box. grounds ok? check the one going to the engine or trans. what part of los angeles? I am in culver city/ marina del rey right by Washington Blvd. & Lincoln Blvd. PM me. J.

mali_FC Nov 13, 2006 09:51 PM

what I noticed was that the alternator was charging poorly, ......I tested the alternator today and it was bad..... when I put a spare one in it has the same problem, the car won't start

RXnos1200 Nov 13, 2006 09:56 PM

how did you test it if it won't start? or does it start now?

mali_FC Nov 13, 2006 10:01 PM

I took the alternator out and I tested it at Auto Zone....

RXnos1200 Nov 13, 2006 11:08 PM

see you tomorrow. make sure that battery is charged before I get there.

Shaughn Nov 13, 2006 11:20 PM

get the car jumped again and test the output voltage on the alternator and let me know what its reading
