Starting Problem

Ive looked through a lot of posts, but havent found one that answers my quesiton/problem.

Initially, i thought my problem was flooding but have started to believe its something else.

When i start the car I have to catch it on the first turn of the key, pressing the gas down right when i hear the engine starting to catch. If i dont, it wont start, it will turn but not actually catch.
Ive done the egi fuse trick, but it usually doesnt work. Every time I miss the first turn i have to bump start it, it starts that way everytime.
Any info would be appreciated.

You should not be pressing the gas pedal at all when normally starting a fuel injected vehicle.

Pressing it down while starting will pretty much guarantee that you will flood an RX-7.

How does the car run after it is started? Is the idle smooth and at 700 RPM?

I seem to have the same problem but it floods without me pushin the pedel down. someone told me that it could be a ECU problem and not really a fuel problem, its the ECU not reading right and telling the fuel pump to send to much fuel to the injectors, i am a newbie at all this rotory stuff but i do know how to build a honda motor so oh well but if anyone has any more info let me know.

It runs smoothly after i start it, but if i dont press the gas pedal while starting, it wont turn over.

Well I sorta had the same problem with mine and realized my fuel filter hasn't been changed in ages so I went ahead and changed it out as well as my O2 sensor. I have also has some flooding problems and if the fuse trick doesn't work, I usually end up pulling out all my plugs at once and turn the engine over a couple times to blow out any excess fuel and clean my plugs up and that usually help clean up my flooding prob. I tend to notice that my car mostly floods as my oil gets close to being ready for a change, not really sure as to why it does that though.

You should be changing the oil everytime you flood the engine, or the oil will get too deluted to provide enough surface thickness to work.
