Starting Problem
Ive looked through a lot of posts, but havent found one that answers my quesiton/problem.
Initially, i thought my problem was flooding but have started to believe its something else. When i start the car I have to catch it on the first turn of the key, pressing the gas down right when i hear the engine starting to catch. If i dont, it wont start, it will turn but not actually catch. Ive done the egi fuse trick, but it usually doesnt work. Every time I miss the first turn i have to bump start it, it starts that way everytime. Any info would be appreciated. |
You should not be pressing the gas pedal at all when normally starting a fuel injected vehicle.
Pressing it down while starting will pretty much guarantee that you will flood an RX-7. How does the car run after it is started? Is the idle smooth and at 700 RPM? |
I seem to have the same problem but it floods without me pushin the pedel down. someone told me that it could be a ECU problem and not really a fuel problem, its the ECU not reading right and telling the fuel pump to send to much fuel to the injectors, i am a newbie at all this rotory stuff but i do know how to build a honda motor so oh well but if anyone has any more info let me know.

It runs smoothly after i start it, but if i dont press the gas pedal while starting, it wont turn over.

Well I sorta had the same problem with mine and realized my fuel filter hasn't been changed in ages so I went ahead and changed it out as well as my O2 sensor. I have also has some flooding problems and if the fuse trick doesn't work, I usually end up pulling out all my plugs at once and turn the engine over a couple times to blow out any excess fuel and clean my plugs up and that usually help clean up my flooding prob. I tend to notice that my car mostly floods as my oil gets close to being ready for a change, not really sure as to why it does that though.
