The heavy gauge black wire with the yellow strip goes to the top mounting bolt that acvtually holds the starter in place (Battery ground).

I see if I have a picture of the connections and post it.

What year is your car, I'll check for the wiring diagram as well.

Well the only place that I think could help you would be http://www.teamfc3s.org/main/factory_service_manual/
Look in the Wiring details to find the starter wiring and the color combo. I hope this helps, its a great link I have printed out the entire thing.

You need to look on section 5, page 20 of the FSM. It's hard to imagine just what your difficulty is. Are you replacing the solenoid?
The solenoid only has one wire (the thin one, B/W according to the schematic).
The very heavy wire from the battery + ve will only fit on one stud! Thats on the back on the solenoid.
The solenoid pulls in when the small wire is energised and completes the circuit between the heavy battery wire and the heavy short one that disappears inside the starter. This is a very substantial switch to carry the 100 to 200 amps the starter takes.
At the same time, the energisied solenoid closes the switch, it moves an internal arm to mechanically engage the starter gear.
Hope this helps you sort out what to do.
