starter wiring

what needs to be connected to get the motor to turn over i dont need it to start im just trying to get some comp. numbers. the only wires i ahve koocked up right now is the positive on the starter and to the fuse box under the hood and of course the pos. and neg. on the battery. there is a little spade connector on the starter do i need to hook this to somthing? and im guessing that the starter is already grounded by being connected to the motor.?? my starter relay is clicking over but my starter isint turning and i know its good cause i hooked it directly to the battery to test it before i put it in.

yes that little spaid connection is the triger signal for the starter solinoid. it need to get 12v inorder for the starter to engage. you can just use a wire to the battery and to the spaid connector but dont start wending with the wire

There is no starter relay unless you have theft protection. No theft protection, no relay. No relay, then no relay clicking.

The battery's neg terminal is connected to the long bolt on the starter on the stock RX. The batt positive cable connects directly to one of the bolts on the starter solenoid.

If the starter solenoid clicks and does not mesh with the flywheel, then the starter is faulty or one of the connections is bad, or the batt is too low or a bunch of other possibilities.

Taking the shank of a screwdriver and bridging the small SPADE connector on the solenoid to the positive wire on the solenoid should make the starter turn the engine over and if the car is in gear, will propell the car fwd or aft depending on the selection of the gear shift lever.

The Circuit Opening Relay is pulled in each time the key is put to START. You might be hearing that. So go out and jumper b/t the spade and the positive wire on the starter solenoid to see if it turns over ........or not.

i cant get my starter to turn my car over. i had the starter checked at advanced and auto zone and it passed with flying colors. on the starter there are 2 bolts and 1 spade connector iv been trying to bypass everything since im having trouble and iv been using jumper cables to supply direct power to the starter. i hoock the pos. up to the only bolt that dosent have a wire to it as the other bolt has a wire on it already from the sylinoid. and i also apply pos. to the spade connector and the neg to the cylinnoid housing.

iv tried jumping the spade connector iv tried using jumper cables iv tried everything i can think of

when i try to crank it it wont budge the motor with spark plugs in and if i remove all spark plugs it will move it very slowly 1 rotation and then not anymore. what gives iv tried everything and i cant find a solution.

is it actually possible to put the flywheel and front pully on to tightly? it turns easily with a wrench.

how is the battery?

whereiscarmensandiego 04-08-08 08:39 PM

the battery is brand new and i even tried jumping it off a running car

iv thought about the needle bearings or somthing being lodged in the front cover but then it would also be difficult for me to turn it as well wouldnt it?

Was this ever solved?
