starter wires when pulling engine?
 

Started pulling engine with tranny attached, and then I noticed I forgot some wires... though the writeup I was trying to follow said nothing about having to do remove them, I have a hard time believing they can stay. The wires in question (sorry, my phone is dead, no pictures currently available) are coming from the transmission, and the starter, going into what seems to be a part of the charging system of the car, on the drivers side, underneath the oil filter location.

Yep, just make sure all the sensors are disconnected off of the engine from that harness (If there are any? The alternator I believe?) and unbolt the engine...

The only wires that should come with the engine/trans are the ones coming out of the trans for the 5th gear sensor and reverse lights.

Whoever wrote the write-up probably assumed someone removing a transmission/engine would have enough sense to unplug anything connecting the part you are removing to the rest of the car.

possibly the dumbest thing i can ask, but when watching aaron cake's rebuild video, he managed to put the engine on a stand, but form the side of the block it looks like, because when he tilted the stand, it put the engine straight up and down, which he goes on to say is actually kinda important as it keeps the bearings from moving around especially during reassembly.

Nah, your first question was slightly dumber. Mounting a rotary engine to a stand uses studs/holes from the powersteering and a/c bracket which connect to the front iron.

I mount mine on the stand using the a/c, power steering bracket mounting studs on the front iron. front cover and oil pan must be off to do this if you are doing it without an engine stand adapter though.

Also the starter has to be all the way removed, because there is a ground wire that should be going to the transmission housing sandwiched by the starter. Only wire that should be coming off with the transmission are the wires directly connecter to the rear part of the transmission.

haha, thanks., Now is there a sticky for undressing the engine? can't seem to find it at all.... for the life of me, I can not get the UIM off...

make sure you have all the bolts off. Theres on on the very top that everyone seems to miss for some reason. lol (by everyone i include myself haha)

Do you actually plan to rebuild the engine or something? Your level of expertise is FAR too low for this sort of project. Please pay someone who knows what they are doing....instead of putting together a botch job of a motor.

When I pull an engine, I do not pull the manifolds, nor do I pull the wiring harness off the engine. I take the entire harness out with the engine.

It's faster that way.
