starter problems and im in a pickle!!

ok i went to start my car today and everything was normal. i get in put the key in, turn is to the on all lights come on as normal and i go to turn it over and all i get is a strong clicking noise but nothing turned over.

now this noise is like the regualar clicking noise but a lil stronger. i searched and i heard there is come kind of switch near the clutch peddle. i dont know what to do with that however i did check all the connections near the starter and everything checked out. i banged on the solinoid vavle and it still did not effect anything. so i decided that i had no other choise but to jump start it. i did and it was a lil more hesitant than usual but it started after a minor hesitation. just out of curiosity i wanted to see if if the started worked i turned it over while the car was on. i did get a grinding noise like the starter worked. now i know this is bad but i just wanted to do some proccess of elimination.

so do any of you guys have any ideas? a quick responce would be best as i am at a friends house and i cant get home.

so im wondering if there some kind of connection that only effects it when the car is off or somethin

Take your starter out and look at it. Wiggle the postive connection rod, and if its a little lose then theres your problem. But I would just take it to autozone or any parts place around your area and check if the starter has a good connection. Well just repost on what happened.

Sure your battery wasn't just low on power? I had this happen once. Jump started the car and was cruisy.

Check all your grounds, especially from the engine to the chassis. If you haven't added any grounds, check the black wire going from the bellhousing to the firewall. The connection is just near your VIN number.

Check the voltage at your battery at stop, then check it again once you've started the car. Let us know what voltages you get.

yeah i checked the grounds and the batter has perfect voltege. but i did take the starter out to get a core change for 50 bucks so ill only have to spend 30 on a new one. the one i had diddnt have warrenty. the only problem is the when i went to take the fucker off the pos cable to solinoid valve was stuck on there. so i torqued it and it some how striped it self wile still on the stud....(i got so frusterated i ripped the bolt out of the starter) and so no i have the pos lead hanging there with a nut and bolt still attached and i cant get it off...should i saw it off?

use vice grips.. It does the trick...

ok i used vice grips and a saw that did the trick

but when i installed the new one i got some really bad sparks down by the solinoid valve!!!! if the starter cord is touching the solinoid vavle will it spark??/\

what did i do wrong?

the mounting bracket and ground cable are on each end of the long bolt. but the first time i put it on, i diddnt have the rubber thingy on the power lead so the cable was touching the valve.

so should i add a spacer in between the power cable and the solinoid valve?
