Starter Problem
Here's a problems that is interesting. Just got back from college to work on an 1988 rx-7 non turbo that was in a wreck only minor fender and bumper damage. I put a new bumper and fender on the car and fixed the headlight. started the car up and let it run for a little because it hasn't ran for a while. turned it off and put it back into the storage shed. came back the next day to take it to get inspected. turns out the car's starter wouldn't even engage. The battery was at a full 12.68v. the resistance on the battery positive to the starter read .2 ohms. And the resistance on the ground side read the same. I pulled the starter and had it checked and it operated normally. I turned the engine over manually to see if there was a mechanical bindage and there was not. The starter relay clicked when the key was turned to the start position. I tried a known good relay just to make sure that it just wasn't a bad relay and the car didn't start.We tried a rolling start, and the car didn't start. none of the fuses were blown and because the starter solenoid and fuel injectors started up when the key was turned to run the computer is ok. all connectors are connected and the starter plugged back in. I tried to jump the ground of the starter to the ground of the batterty to see if it was a bad ground on the starter and nothing happened. I also tried the same with the positive side. the weird thing is after we started the car and turned it off we put it back into storage and didn't touch it after so i'm pretty much stumped. thank you for your time and i look forward to hearing your remarks
