STARTER BRUSH SET FOR 87n/a

I'm tired of striking my starter every two weeks to make it work. Where can I purchase a set of brushes for the starter. Where for sure. Please, no maybes or mights or kinda sortas please. I took a set out of another starter that were a bit better, but I want to buy a new set. Oh, yeah. Please don't mention my Mazda dealer. I'm not into paying his overhead or well paid mechanics, if possible. Thank you.

what starter are you using? I gave up on the auto parts store starters. Yah, they have a warranty, but its a bitch to change every time it fails. All the new mazda starters ive bought have yet to fail. I used to change brushes in aircraft starters all the time, but ive never taken a mazda one apart. Sorry i cant help.

How hard can it be? 2 bolts and a nut.. Wanna cuss? Try changing a starter on a fiero. THAT is a bitch. I'll take Mazda any day of the week. IMHO, just get a new starter.

well, its not the changing that particularly difficult, its usually the timing. The starter will always fail when your: late for work, on a date with a hot chick, at the street races when the cops are showing up, etc....

I was very disappointed a couple years ago to find that you can't buy brushes, Bendix drive, bushings, or solenoid. You will have to get a rebuild. The good news is that they are now available with lifetime warranty for around $125. I have always rebuilt mine in the past, but you can't if the bastards won't sell the parts.

Thank you 88AND93. How sad. Its so simple to pull the cover off and swap the brushes *see jpg other post*. Just gotta be a way around this. Brushes from another type car and a little soldering perhaps. Cheeez.

I forgot to attach the jpg I made of the old ones so there would be a point of reference in case someone did not know what I was talking about:
