i was just curious on what stand alones or chips which are reliable and deserve credit i have used a wolf 3d and pleased with it very user freindly to get you to the dyno then the magic happens , so if you have good luck with your current chip or stand alone feel free to comment on it

jacobcartmill 01-01-06 01:47 PM

nice drift machine dawwwwwwg

but yeah, get a haltech e6k if you can find a used on on ebay or something.

dennis blackstone 01-01-06 02:04 PM

thanks i hear good things about the haltech does it come with anti flooding like the wolf 3d

KompressorLOgic 01-01-06 02:40 PM

rtek is the only decent chip out there, and can push the limit of the stock ecu. as for stand alones theres a wide variety, they are more of a preference thing.

snowball 01-01-06 02:49 PM

almost any stand alone will get the job done well, its up to you what you like and how much you want to spend.

Parastie 01-01-06 03:58 PM

Megasquirt is by far the cheapest setup....although, it's probably not the easiest. :D

X-JaVeN-X 01-01-06 03:58 PM

best "bang for the buck" would probably be a megasquirt...you can get a plug n' play one for like $400-500.

MARTIN 01-01-06 05:15 PM

nothing is better than microtech for the price.... megasquirt sucks cock......:bottom:

ddub 01-01-06 06:26 PM

Megasquirt doesn't really suck, it's actually pretty good especially for the price.

+1 for MSnS

RotaryX 01-01-06 07:00 PM

I'm installing a micro-tech right know, so I cant say from experience. Just from what Ive heard and read. But the micro-tech is said to be user friendly and easy on the noobs. But it all boils down to who your local tuner is, and what there comfortable with. Also it comes down with what your goals are for the car.

CrackHeadMel 01-01-06 07:07 PM

i use a wolf, and have a subie friend who runs one also. were both very happy with them. the handheld controler makse tuning a breeze when a laptop isnt avaible, and half the time i had a laptop i still used the controler, because its that good

First of all the lt8s are around 800... you dont have to build it, no making harnesses and shit and plus you get an extremely nice base map to start off from.. the map sensor is built in and installation shouldnt take more than 1-2 hrs if you are sodering all the connections... You have nice support for it, and tuning it is easy as sin... Its nice to just connect everything and just be able to drive the car with no probs right outta the box....

You can buy a pre-built MSnS off of the Megasquirt section moderator for ~300, prebuilt with very nice base map that is used on his room mates rx7.

Pressure sensor is built in for the MS's also.

muythaibxr (the MS section moderator) is also developing a plug n' play MSnS. It will plug into the STOCK harness on the rx7, have a base map ready to go. Fully tuneable and everything you need, for something like $420 shipped I believe.

MSEFI forum has great support, as well as the MS section of this club from muythaibxr, he is always willing to help.

So what's the issue again?

Theres no issue... I said it sucks cus im a hater.... Anyways... I havent used MS so Im not gunna compare the software to that of MT.... But MT software is very nice... With the laptop you have analog guages that display timing, map, rpms, water temp and a couple other shit that doesnt come to mind... If you get the dash, them you can get warning lights to come on depending on what you set them up for... you can do it for the temp or shift light, or even boost spike( as warning lamp).. Plus the MT allows for two step and switches for acc, like cooling fans or bac... Datalog and 3d maps... I dont know, but to those that I've talked to that have used it or own it including myself, it is worth every single penny...

ddub 01-01-06 10:11 PM

Yah the laptop software for MS has all those gauges too :)

And you can set it up to run accessory/misc stuff, like fans, bac, etc :)

Sounds pretty similar to me! But hey, I'm just giving you shit, no worries.

I guess.... BTW just a question on MS... how accurate is the timing??

ddub 01-01-06 10:30 PM

Ignition timing? In what aspect/s? As far as ignition timing on the gauge versus what is set/what the car is seeing? Ignition timing set in the tables versus what the car actually sees?

yea.. how accurate is it... Most important when messing with the gap...

ddub 01-01-06 10:46 PM

I personally do not have a *lot* of experience, only minimal when installing/some basic tuning. But from what I saw it was pretty dead on. However like I said, it was only very little in the beginning and I have not gone in extensively with the MSnS yet.

ok cool...

white94pgt 01-02-06 01:01 AM

well the timing on my probe is dead on, as long as you set the trigger angle correctly, your good to go.

TitosToy 01-02-06 07:02 AM

i'm deciding which one to buy, the microtech or the haltech. i've been told that with the microtech you're able to use the stock coils but you cant with the haltech. also i've been told that microtech has 2 settings(1 for load and the other for crusing) but haltech has only the load. can anyone here shed some insight on that?
