i was just curious on what stand alones or chips which are reliable and deserve credit i have used a wolf 3d and pleased with it very user freindly to get you to the dyno then the magic happens , so if you have good luck with your current chip or stand alone feel free to comment on it

rtek is the only decent chip out there, and can push the limit of the stock ecu. as for stand alones theres a wide variety,they are more of a preference thing.

almost any stand alone will get the job done well, its up to you what you like and how much you want to spend.

Megasquirt is by far the cheapest setup....although, it's probably not the easiest. :D

best "bang for the buck" would probably be a megasquirt...you can get a plug n' play one for like $400-500.

I'm installing a micro-tech right know, so I cant say from experience. Just from what Ive heard and read. But the micro-tech is said to be user friendly and easy on the noobs. But it all boils down to who your local tuner is, and what there comfortable with. Also it comes down with what your goals are for the car.

i use a wolf, and have a subie friend who runs one also. were both very happy with them. the handheld controler makse tuning a breeze when a laptop isnt avaible, and half the time i had a laptop i still used the controler, because its that good

Yah the laptop software for MS has all those gauges too :)
And you can set it up to run accessory/misc stuff, like fans, bac, etc :) Sounds pretty similar to me! But hey, I'm just giving you shit, no worries. |

Ignition timing? In what aspect/s? As far as ignition timing on the gauge versus what is set/what the car is seeing? Ignition timing set in the tables versus what the car actually sees?

I personally do not have a *lot* of experience, only minimal when installing/some basic tuning. But from what I saw it was pretty dead on. However like I said, it was only very little in the beginning and I have not gone in extensively with the MSnS yet.

well the timing on my probe is dead on, as long as you set the trigger angle correctly, your good to go.

i'm deciding which one to buy, the microtech or the haltech. i've been told that with the microtech you're able to use the stock coils but you cant with the haltech. also i've been told that microtech has 2 settings(1 for load and the other for crusing) but haltech has only the load. can anyone here shed some insight on that?
