Stalled out, will not restart?

Hi. My 88 RX-7 convertible failed me today again leaving work. I got in, started up, began throttling down the driveway, and it stalled out. after MANY attempts at restarting it, she wouldn't. Finally, I reached over and turned off the window fan motor, so i could think about what I was gonna do. I tried it again, and it STARTED RIGHT UP! I didn't believe it, so i turned the defroster back on, and she stalled. Turned it off, and fired up again. I sped quickly out of the parking lot, and made my way home. Now, the car did hesitate ALOT all the way home, but at least it got me home. Any ideas? I made a post last night, about a hesitation I had, and people recommended TPS. Would a TPS do this too? Weird how the fan motor controlled my engine starting. Thanks.

Justin

EDIT: To be more specific, each time I would try and start it, it would fire up, then stall out as soon as I took my hand off the ignition (from Start to Run). Tho it was bad for the starter, it would rev if I had the key on Start, but as soon as it flicked back to Run, it would die, if that has any significance.

I would say TPS as well since my car did the same thing besides the window motor making your engine die thing. It would do things like not let me rev past 4k and it would pop and sputter and just run like ass. When i replaced it the problem went away.

I had my car die on me once when I turned on my headlights. Turned out the battery terminals were just badly corroded. Make sure it's clean and definitely check the TPS.

TPS's are expensive!! Any suggestions where to get one reasonable, cheapest place?

Test the charging system. Using a multimater on the battery while the car is running. you should see 13.5-14.5 volts at the battery.

This sounds like a alternator charging issue. I would bring your alternator to the auto store to test it.
