Stage 1 porting templates
 

I am currently in the process of rebuilding my 13b s4. I figure while I am at it I may as well port it. Does anyone have the template which I can download? I would really aprreciate it.

You would need to be a bit clear about what "Stage 1" actually means. One builder's "stage 1" could be another's "stage 3".

As far as I know there aren't very many free port templates. Most of the vendors will sell them for a nominal cost considering how much it cost to develope them.

racing beat is about the equivalent to a stage 1, maybe closer to a stage 2 but only if you blend after the template ends.

why not express it in the timing/duration of the ports and the size of them in surface area?

i hate the whole "stage" thing lets all go play some Need for Speed now

I get at least 4 calls a day from people telling me about their badass car with a "Stage 3 turbo" on it or asking me if we sell a stage 4 turbo kit. Don't get me wrong, I like Gran Turismo as much as the next guy... but seriously...

I still trying to decide if I want to buy a template or take it to someone who has experience. I have a 13B-RE. From research, some of the templates don't work on my engine. I need a large street port. Anyone have any good ideas or know of a good template for my engine?

i'd recomend taking it to an expert..thats what im doing with my port

i'd be pissed if i tried to do it myself and jacked it all up...which reminds me...ben...big port!! not huge, but definately not a baby port

I can get my S4 NA ported and lapped for $250, is this a good price? The guy is very knowlegeable and knows his rotaries good. He did a 20b swap in my friend's FD.

That seems like a good price. I just talked to a person at Banzai and they only port rotarys that they rebuild.

sorry for the lack of description. I guess what I am looking for is a mild street port. I would like to keep it driveable and not a crazy idle... I would also like to be able to install a lightened fly wheel to improve respone. thanks again

Generally any street port is still going to be quite drivable and not much much, if anything, to the idle. I'm sure there are some exceptions, but thats generally how they work. You don't really start affecting idle and drivability until you get into bridges.
