Squealing noise - what do you think it is?
Hey everybody, it's been a while since I have posted on here - I'm having an issue with my 1990 N/A vert.
Symptoms: Squealing Noise from front of car Car doesn't need to be moving Not constant, usually the squealing happens after 10-15 min of driving Squealing happens when I have released the clutch sometimes "Blipping" the throttle makes the squeal go away Happens while idle, and in at least 1st, 2nd, and reverse - I don't think I've noticed it in 3rd gear or higher Actions taken so far: None. I have a hunch that it's just a belt, the car isn't overheating or having any trouble shifting into any gear. I just wanted to throw this out there to see if you guys agree or if you think it could be something else. I'll probably pick up a new belt today. It's not as high pitched a squeal / squeek as I have heard in the past when a belt is going bad, but it's definitely very very loud and moderately embarrassing. |
Sounds like a belt to me.

Belt or bad throw out or pulley bearings (these can be replaced)...
|
I've got a squeal from the idler pulley of the A/C.
|
Check belts first then pulleys, if it turns out it isn't a belt find a stethoscope pull off the round end and use it around your pulleys.
|
oh, also - no A/C, no Air pump
|
youtube video of squealing - if you all agree it sounds like a belt I'm gonna go pick up new ones tomorrow...

Sounds like a bad pulley bearing or belt. My PS pulley had a bad bearing, got a new bearing form the local parts store... You will have to see for yourself where it is coming from...

definantly a belt or something related, rather than tracking down a stethascope, come on not many people just have these laying around at there house, you can use a wooden dowel of some sort, it will do the same thing.
jsut place it on something ans stick the other end to your ear and listen |
