Sputtering and shaking
I need some help. I have a 91 RX7 Converible NA. I only have been driving it on weekends. I wanted to take it out for a drive this evening and it started up fine, idled fine but when I accelerated in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear it started sputtering and shaking. The check engine light comes on before its starts the sputtering. I do smell a burnibg smell can't really tell it what it smells like. It does not appear to be coming from the engine. When I got the car home, turned off the engine and then started it again the check engine light was not on. When I took it out on the road again the same thing happened again, check engine light comes on, it starts sputtering and shaking again. I can rev the engine with no problem when its not in gear it seems to occur when I put it in gear and accelereate. The car has about 150,000 miles on it. The engine only has about 55,000 miles. I've had the car about threee years with no problems. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you, John |
Check it for codes.
My pal's car was having similar things happening. It turned out the water thermo sensor's plug was loose. Yours may have the same problem or the sensor may be bad all together. Also check the AFM this could also cause problems. |
I had that problem....
For me all I had to do was spray some carb cleaner through the AFM and it worked nicely...
