Sport suspension

Hey i just realized that my car has an active alarm.. i dont know how to turn it on or off but i accidentally activated it somehow...
so does that mean that the "sport" and "normal" suspension buttons actually do something?
if so how do THEY work!?

Bukwild 01-07-04 09:11 AM

you can unlock the door with the key and it will shutoff.

The auto-adjust suspension buttons have nothing to do with the stock alarm system, they just happen to be right by the alarm light.

I am guess you have a GXL and not a TII, then.

Wait, don't tell me those crazy Canadians could get AAS in a TII... ;)

Yeah apparently I have AAS in my TII
just cant tell if it works??
or I dont know how to tell if it does..

By the time they get to be 15+ years old, you really can't tell the difference between the two settings.

heh, AAS was one of the reasons I ditched my GXL for a Sport. The factory Sport Tuned suspension feels soo much better. ;)

it's very likely that your adjustable suspension no longer works, I mean, it's 16 years old.

If your struts are relatively new OEM replacements, and your actuators are still working, then sure, it works! It's not far fetched.

The easiest way to test? Put it in "normal" and while going down the road, jerk the wheel left and right, just to get the car to waver side to side. Then put it in "sport" and do the same thing.

If it's working, you'll notice a BIG difference. If it seems about the same, or you're not sure if it's better or not, then the AAS doesn't work.

They were better stock, you can't compare them now.
Don't even get me started on our S5's versus yours.

Whoa, I'm not picking any fights here, just sharing my personal experience with a worn out AAS suspension and a worn out Sport Tuned suspension.

You did succeed in getting me curious about the S5 stock suspension though.:)

I do miss the GXL's LSD, though. Real bad.:o:

:boxing: GRRRRRR.. heh

Is it true that 87's dont have ABS down there?

JGard18 01-08-04 10:25 AM

mine doesn't... It may have been an option, though. I'm certain it was an option in 88

I'm not picking fights. Our S5's are just WAY better than yours, with the lack of mousebelts being the most significant factor.

We didn't get the GTUs or CYM's, though :(

ABS was an option for 87 TII's in Canada. It was not on all 87 TII's.

It's all good.
