Sporadic Miss At Idle When Cold???
 

Ok heres what happens, start my car up in the mornings and i get a miss about every 5 or ten seconds. Once the car warms up it fine...no misses. I just put new plugs and wires from Mazda in and still does it when cold. What could i be missing here??? Unless the throttle angle when cold(fast idle cam) could be wrongly gapped?? Could that cause an intermittent miss only when cold? If someone could help me shed some light on this much would be appreciated .

try disconnecting your subzero start assist motor (located in passenger firewall corner), may involve temporarily disconnecting a few other goods! but not bad to do. subzero assist pumps coolant mixture (90%coolant 10% water) into your intake at certain temps. sometimes disconnecting will help, if not well at least its only your cold idle, oh btw could be bypass air control valve (bac) sticking, thats another common prob, or egr sticking (again another standard issue with almost 20 yr old equipment). just some suggestions. peace

From what I've heard, this is pretty common. My car does the same thing, no matter what I do. Both engines I've used (one NA and one TII) have had a misfire or two on cold startups, both with the stock ECU and with my Haltech. I'm sure there has to be a way to correct his, but I haven't found one... ;)

S5 Series I Don't Think It Has A Subzero Start I've Never Seen One On It...theres Got To Be Someone Out There That Has Conquered This....this Is My First Rx7 That I've Ever Owned, Never Compared It To Any Other One But Surely It Can't Be Normal..any Help Is Appreciated.

ANYONE???I've searched and it seems a lot of people have this miss when cold but if its not normal then what are some things that i can check that only affect when cold???

I don't know where the thread was but I was trying to figure it out... and no it's not something you can get rid of.

Apparently some of the guys with a lot of time and money were trying to figure it out too and couldn't, finally came down that it has something to do with pressure changes internally when one rotor face is on it's exhaust stroke and the other is in compression and it just doesn't fire correctly.

I'm not sure where that thread was, but I know it was one of the big names on the board so they might read this and clarify. But yeah, no way to get rid of it.
