spark plugs questions

so i was given my car. an 86 base. it sat for like 3 years before i got it running again. complete new fuel system, new plugs and so on... i got it running, drove it once, noticed it had 3800 problem, put it in garage, started fixing it, modding it, everyonce in a while i would start it up... every other day or so and let it idle for a while for about 3 months... finally finished it enough to where i wanted to drive it. ive driven it about 7 or 8 times, it mostly just gets started and idled alot. anyway it started hissing or poping like a misfire so i took the plugs out and there black as hell, wiht just a little bit of crud on them not much at all, but overall black in color. i know the car is running rich probly becuase i removed all emissions. is it normal for the plugs on a rotary to be black like that? if not what could be effecting it? i havnt cranked it up after i put the plugs back in cleaned as its 2 in the morning and my exhuast can be heard a mile away. oh and before you ask how many miles on it the motor is rebuilt... with ide say maybe 60,000 at the most, probly no where near that tho

NA FCs run really rich from the factory, so the spark plugs should be changed about every 4-8k miles. I do mine every other oil change.

idling is the toughest job these engines do, if you plan on letting the engine idle for long periods then the plugs will have to be changed more often than usual and you should also decarbonize the engine as it will have more than average deposits on the combustion faces from idling extensively.

ahh ok, gotcha. the only reason i let it idle is becuase i cant drive it becuase it has so many problems... every other 5 times i drive it, its back in the garage
