spark plug wires mixed up?
 

I have an 88 TII. First of all if the trailing plugs are mixed up with eachother and the leading plugs are mixed up with eachother, would it affect how the car runs? Second, I had to pull all my plugs due to flooding, and I lost track of where they went in my frustration. How exactly, plug for plug, are wires supposed to be connected?

The coils are marked with letters and numbers and so is the motor, but I think only with letters. Heres how they go.

L1 = Bottom left
L2 = Bottom right
T1 = Top left
T2 = Top right

Looking from Drivers side fender:

T1 T2
0---0

0---0
L1 L2

I think they fire at different times (rotors are at opposite locations), so having em mixed up would probably screw things up

Get a flashlite and look next to each sparkplug hole. On the top holes you find a T next to each hole. On the bottom you find a L next to each of the holes. So its T for TRAIL and L for LEAD. The LEAD coil assy is located next to the battery. Embossed next to each plug wire where it exits the hole on the coil assy, is a L1 or a L2. The wire that comes out of the L1 hole goes to the sparkplug nearest the front of the engine that has a L next to it. That would be the bottom, front sparkplug. The wire coming out of the L2 hole on the coil assy, goes to the rear, bottom sparkplug. Now for the TRAIL COIL ASSY near the brake master cylinder. The same situation here. On the wire coming out of the hole with T1 on it goes to the top most foreward sparkplug. The wire coming out of the hole with T2 next to it, goes to the aft, top, sparkplug. As they say, L for lower and T for top. Number one is always in front and number two is in the rear.

does this apply for the N/A also? I was checking mine and it looks like they are wrong.

this applies for all 2 gens. put the plugs in the holes on the housings with the matching letters (may have to wipe some grime off to see them. and then match the coils with "T" to the top plugs (#1 for the front, #2 for the back) and the "L" coil goes to the bottom plugs (again, #1 in the front, #2 in the back housing) just match the ##s and letters, cant go wrong.
