SOS Assistance Needed

Hey,

working on another guy's 7 today, took belts off replaced, threw it all back together. Wire on the top right of the alternator is stripped slightly and sparked against a piece of metal so that could be part of this.

At any rate it doesn't start. Doesn't turn over or click. Dash cluster lights and gauges don't work. However the lights work and the buzzer for the forgot the key.. thing.

We sent it down a hill and tried to pop the clutch to no avail. Anybody have any ideas?

We are in the school parking lot with 7% battery or I would search.

Thank you!!

You would want to check the Main fuse to begin with (this fuse is screwed into the fuse box and does not just pull out). If the wire on the alternator is the thick Black wire and that's the wire which sparked then it could blow the main fuse. Also, if the wire was not the Black output wire but the B/W wire then that too could cause the main fuse to blow.

i'm sure the main fuse is blown, almost guaranteed by his description.

You got it. Main fuse, someone put an 80a in there.. arc probably would have torched a 100a as well but still. Thank you everyone nail on the head :D

S4 has 80 amp..the s5 has 100 amp main fuse.
Your Arcing was obviously the problem but the fuse did it's job.

I guess you know the next time to disconnect the battery of you work near electrical.
