some electrical gremlins

i got a few problems, car is a 1990 GXL 5 speed with cruise control

-my oil pressure gauge is acting funny, it reads way above 100 when the car is off, but drops below 0 when the car is on

-all but the headlights have gone out, checked the fuses, and they're fine, saw in another thread it might be brake light switch, just don't know if it would matter if i got with cruise or without cruise because 1. i'm real short of cash, and the cruise control one is $25 compared to the non which is $5

-cruise control doesn't work, main light turns on when i push the button, just speed won't set.

any help will do, all the fuses are good and replaced, this is my dd so i need help fast. and any locations where i should check wiring for shorts cause my battery drains. [can't be radio cause none of the radio wires have been cut]

Thanks for the help

i forgot to add that the btn fuse under the hood is missing, would that also be a problem? and would that contribute to my lights [dash and headlights] dimming when i press the brake? [when the lights worked]
will do an amp test tomorrow, and post what my car was drawing

thanks again

Ok. So here we go?
(Respective to interpretation of statement)

1. Oil pressure SENDER
2. Wtf r u saying?
3. Is the c control throttle cable and actuator attached/enabled?
4. Get a multimeter and start pulling fuses.

Check out the FSM in the BODY ELECTRICAL section. There is a CRUISE CONTROL section beginning on page T-69. Try the self diagnosis and inspection procedures shown on page T-72 after you are sure everything is hooked up correctly like texFCturboII stated above in 3.

the only lights that work on my car are the headlights and the brights. i don't have any blown fuses. it seems like its the brake light switch, according to another thread. brake light switch's come in 2 forms, with cruise control, and without cruise control. with cruise control, it is $25 where the non cruise control is $5. i was wondering if i really needed to get the brake light switch with cruise control, or just get the one without since my car's cruise doesn't work.

Have you tested the brake light switch via the FSM?

Any results from the self-diagnostic test of the cruise system?

Soooo.....replace the BTN and that will fix some of your problems.

The oil pressure issue is probably related to the oil pressure senders, condenser, either being hooked up wrong or not hooked up at all.

BTN fuse is probably blown.

Battery drain will happen from something being mis-wired in the car... what electrical non stock or aftermarket equipment is installed?

As you noticed in my first jpg in a post several up from this one, the BTN should take care of quite a few of your problems (like lack of brake lights). Not all, but most. Like the attached jpg of the Cruise Control that uses the BTN fuse also.

The BTN fuse feeds the battery bus on your interior fuse box. The term Batt Bus means you don't have to have the key On for those items to work, unlike the Ig1 and Ig2 Busses in the interior fuse box.

been away from the computer along time now, but most the problems went away after i got a btn fuse put in [didn't have one in to start since i bought the car]
haven't tested cruise control to see if thats been solved [by the btn fuse] or had the time around to do a self diagnostic test on it

all i have aftermarket in my car [that i know of] is a radio, a security system and the battery moved behind the seat. i'm not sure of what the previous owners have done, but i've also got the coolant sensor jb welded on the radiator [previous owners doing]

my best bet for battery drain is the security system being hooked up funny. [can't use power windows if the box is out] any of you guys know how you would properly hook one up? i've got a new one sitting on a shelf waiting to be put in.
