Solid Engine Mounts - Feedback of mod
I just finished up installing the solid motor mounts.
- Shifting is alot easier/nicer. No searching for gears because the shifter bushigns are shot. Its easy to find gear every time. - Vibrations. I didn't notice any extra that I didn't previously have from the exuast. - Driving... its not the same to drive. Stop lights are a bit more maticulus as it has become slightly harder to start off. Its maybe my ankle was just stiff though. Anyhow, I enjoy it. My old bushings were shot, the one two piece has aprt of the bushing stuck on each side and the but moved quite a bit. Anyhow, I like the new feel, and added few inches of nothingness in the engine bay. |
I think I can say pretty much the same. I have solid motor and tranny mounts and I have only noticed a little more shifter rattle than before. That is something that can be addressed later though. Easy fix. I love the solid feel of the mounts, I really think that they complement the overall drive of the TII. Although I really dont remember what the old motor mounts felt like (long story) I believe that the mounts took zero driveability from the car.

cool insight, as i had asked what people thought of the diifrent ones available on the market in a different thread and never got any 411. But what kind are yours? or are they some home grown ones? I always thought that solids were for race only?; as the stop and go traffic gets annoying like you said with the take offs.

take offs are still kinda harsh.
they appear to be home brew. Just a alumnim cylinder with a hole through it. pretty simple. |
Hmmm, I figured the metal of choice for solid bushings would be brass. Its still a fairly soft metal. At least its not a whole lot harder than urethane.
I think ill just stick with urethane myself though. |
I have solid Engine, Tranny, and Rear Diff mounts. Overall, I'd have to say that I love them. The car feels more "responsive" and the mounts will probably outlast the car itself.
