So what would cause my stock radio to turn on but make no noise?

I push the power button and the radio turns on, antenna goes up, but I dont hear a thing. What can I check? Wiring harness, what about fuses?

Check radio fuse!

My 87 did the same thing. Antenna goes up but no noise.
I replaced it with an extra stock radio unit I had in the garage. I knew this one worked when I took it out of my other rx7. This one did the same exact thing.

My conclusion is the radio computer thing under the passenger dash has a short! I thought about soldering the joints but just plan on going with a new setup!
I still have the system in the car and would love to keep the stock look.

Anybody else??

Is the fuse in the radio or on the panel by the drivers side?

I had something similar happen, it was an internal fault in the head unit (broken solder or some such). I took it to a local stereo repair shop, they were able to fix it, cost me $60 (about 8 years ago, tho).

What I have noticed is a circuit board behind the pass speaker. There is also circuit boards in the rear speakers. It might be somekind of amp.

Depends which model you have. The GXL's have amps for each speaker, one in each tower, and one for the dash pair, and one for the doors.
