Haynes says it's on the exhaust manifold, but this isn't the exhaust manifold, is it? I've been looking for the dang thing for about a week :wallbash: I thought i'd be able to get at it from under the hood of my car, but I can't find it. This thing sure looks like one though . . .

This pic is on the aftermarket annoying 3-inch straight pipe the previous owner had installed. It's about right underneath the arm rest.

What is it doing way down there? Are you sure thats not and egt sensor?

Thats the o2 sensor ^ EGT would have two wires..

That's what I was thinking. It's definitely not where it's supposed to be (if it is the o2 sensor). From what i've read on previous posts (2 foot extension bars), sounds like i'm going to have a treat getting that thing off . . .

An EGT probe is also smaller than that...

Yes, that is the normal mounting location in a Racing Beat header, which is what you have. Attached is a pic of mine in my garage.
As for getting it off, I never tried. I just threw away my old one with my busted manifold since it was prob quite old.

I don't think he has a RB header though... The flange is different, and you can tell by the quality of the welds that it wasn't professionally done... :)

yeah, that is the o2 sensor.... looks like the previous owner replaced your exhaust manifold w/ an aftermarket header.... so technicallly, you dont have an exhaust mani anymore...... and thats the typical location for a header, that way it reads the flow from both ports

A "header" is an exhaust manifold. It's just not the stock one.

You don't have to correct every little misconstrued statement someone makes... I'm pretty sure everyone is well aware of the fact that a header is still technically an exhaust manifold... :)

I'd rather have correct info put up. Not everybody knows that a header is technically an exhaust manifold. If he doesn't correct this, what else shouldn't he correct? Hell, I heard the N/A engine makes 34893hp. Although I'm only off by a "little" bit... no reason to correct it, right? :)

If you guys want to get real technical a header is indeed NOT an exhaust manifold. Headers are always tubular, while manifiolds are usually cast. Manifolds and headers have completely different flow characteristics and although they do the same job, in no way can they be called the same thing.

Actually they are the same... Hence a "tubular manifold"...

BS. A tubular header is a type of manifold.

"A pipe or chamber branching into several openings"

"A pipe that has several lateral outlets to or from other pipes"

"A chamber or pipe with several openings for receiving or distributing a fluid or gas"

"A cylindrical pipe fitting, having a number of lateral outlets, for connecting one pipe with several others"

I see the word "pipe" a lot...

being that it is an O2 sensor just pick up the o2 sensor tool at your local auto shop they will rent them to you or you can buy them. But from the looks of it a wrench should be able to yank that one. You usually only need the tool when it is on the stock manifold.
