PUTTING THE ENGINE IN MY CAR, THAT'S WHAT!! Anyone have any tips/advice as far as things to look out for? I have literally no one helping me, and have no clue what I am doing, but I have made it this far on my own, so screw it. It's just drop in, plug n' play, start and drive, right? lol.


the motor mounts... there is the metal part attached to the block, but also some round rubber parts? They fell apart/off when I pulled the engine, how do they go back together?

Its 1am here lol. Just take your time, and I find it helpful to search through pics on here if you can't figure how something goes. FSM is helpful too.

IIRC the rubber part of the mount goes inside(?) the metal part, idk, I throw those stock ones out every time. Just look at it and try different ways, you'll figure it out.

With the motor mounts, the rubber and larger "cup" should be bonded together, if they're not, toss the mounts. If that's ok, then the smaller cup goes open side up, over the bottom stud (I hope that makes sense). Larger cup on top is how they're positioned in the car. Hope that helps.

Got motor mounts fixed... I think. Pretty sure.

i was up till 3am putting my engine in too... rats nest and upper intake took the longest. trying to figure out vac lines and getting that coolant return hose on was a PITA!

Why is it that engine installations always seem to last until the early hours of the morning? Even though it's straightforward, all the little problems that happen really suck up time.

One of the reasons it pays to buy all new hoses, mounts, clamps, etc. when installing an engine. :)

If you're worried about the paint (which if the motor is already out I guess you got that taken care of), put some blankets or terry towels around the engine bay. Keeps things from scraping the body.
If your transmission isn't mated yet, you can (helps me, maybe you too?) use a bottle jack on the front of it to help balance during the mating process.

Yeah, trans was pulled with car, put in new clutch, pilot bearing, throwout bearing and pressure plate. remating the trans was a pita. no milk crate, nothin. just held the trans by hand and CAREFULLY aligned it. Not the most exciting part of the build if I'm honest.
