so i ordered a motor

i just ordered a motor from osakajdmmotors.com. its a full block and comes with ecu. was 950 shipped to my door. yay cant wait! i got a 88 gtu. imma keep my n/a drivetrain, does anyone know what clutch i need to use? n/a or t2?

DemonicPupil 01-13-06 01:26 PM

N/A drivetrain = N/A clutch as far as I know... You aren't being very specific on the motor you bought though. I think if you bought a turbo and it comes with a flywheel, your gonna have to change to an NA flywheel??

cool_as_crap 01-13-06 01:28 PM

uh, if its a stock motor of a gtu, then an n/a clutch. or did you buy a jspec turbo motor?

cool_as_crap 01-13-06 01:33 PM

ok looks like its the turbo motor, so yeah turbo clutch. you everything for the swap right? complete turbo rear end, drive shaft, turbo tanny?

He said he was going to use his NA driveline...

bwtp 01-13-06 02:45 PM

ohh yah i got a jspec s4 turbo 2 motor

dennis blackstone 01-13-06 02:45 PM

As long as he is not drag racing or doing crazy hole shots the na drive train will last a little while ,but don't get me wrong the na drive train sucks if you put a 3 puck or 4 your tranny and drive shaft will break once you start messing around ,but if you drive it easy witch is almost inmpossible you may get away with it

bwtp 01-13-06 02:48 PM

im just goonna run the n/a drivetrain until i have enough money to get the full turbo 2 one. i was j/w if i could use my old n/a clutch dont wanna buy a new one if imma throw it out

Turbo II-FB 01-13-06 02:48 PM

I heard thewy are shitty. DUe I aheva rebuitl motor FS built by MZM inaustin with 15k on it built with new housings and 3mm seals FS 1500 plus shipping it was only driven on the weekends

bwtp 01-13-06 02:50 PM

damn shoulda got it, already purchased this motor

Turbo II-FB 01-13-06 03:07 PM

its ported too ..agressvie street port

cool_as_crap 01-13-06 03:09 PM

im not sure that n/a driveshaft will bolt up to the turbo tranny.

jgrts20 01-13-06 03:14 PM

Um....... I just went to theyre site, Looks look they only sell 13b T w/ 5 speed tranny for 87-91. Why would you need a clutch? 650 dollars not bad for a price, http://osakajdmmotors.com/intromazda.htm what was the shipping?

Turbo II-FB 01-13-06 03:25 PM

I've also heard bad things about them

cool_as_crap 01-13-06 03:45 PM

well its not like their rebuilt motors, i dont see where it says the mileage, you may have just bought yourself a piece of crap

bwtp 01-13-06 04:29 PM

shipping cost me 300 to a residential address. i've heard only heard one bad story about osaka and that guy got another motor along with the bad core. not everyones perfect :-/ but atleast they correct themselves. as for mileage, i think to myself the faster i blow it the faster i can street port it :). ohh yah im using the n/a tranny tahts why i was wondering if i need a t2 clutch

gingenhagen 01-13-06 04:38 PM

much better idea to rebuild/port it BEFORE it blows.

DemonicPupil 01-13-06 06:19 PM

17 replies and no1 has really answered the poor guys question.. and I've done my best.

If you are putting in your NA tranny, I can (almost) guarantee that you need the NA clutch (because the splines are different???) and you might need an NA flywheel (look around at the Turbo swap pages, they'll give you more info about drivetrain)

NCRX791 01-13-06 09:41 PM

you will need the n/a clutch but the t2 flywheel....simple as that

bwtp 01-13-06 09:44 PM

koooool thanx for the input guys

SuperRotorMan 01-13-06 09:57 PM

thanks for the sight man.. lol im gunna buy myself a second 13B T now...

driftin8ez 01-13-06 10:31 PM

im going to be purchasing a 13bt soon as well. I've heard good about osaka so i going to purchase from them. Did they give you a choice between s4 or s5 or did you tell them you wanted an s4 motor. I need an s5 motor for my car and i hope that they know the diff. between motors. aslo what about compression do they check that before they ship it out. What warrenties do they give?

Carzy Driver 01-13-06 10:47 PM

do a search on osaka motors first, many have had problems with their motors,

bwtp 01-13-06 11:07 PM

umm when i called they asked me if i wanted s4 or s5 so they kinda know what they are talking about. gave me more confidence in them. ohhh you guys can jsut wait until my motor comes in and then ill install it and tell u how it runs :-/. i only heard bad stories about thier piston engines. but they dont screw u over when u get a bad engine they replace it. only heard 1 bad story about a rotary and he got another motor from them so 2 long blocks ehhh not bad id say he came up good.
