Snapped duel alternator pulley
So, i'm just wondering who else has snapped a duel pulley it in half? Also who makes a duel alternator pulley one piece? I bought one 4 days ago, and then the bitch broke in half... So it's a single pulley again... :icon_tdow I'm skeptical about duel alternator pulleys.. I didn't tighten the belts that tight either.

i've never heard of that happening.
I've done it... It happened yesterday. I'll go take a picture of it right now. lol The other piece is completely MIA...
Should've gone with a GM steel pulley. Aluminum pulleys wear faster than the belts. But, yeah, 4 days to break it sucks.
Which GM steel pulley would work? I am in the market for another one.

I don't know a specific pulley that would fit. It was recommended to me to find a steel one due to wear issues on the aluminum one. I'd measure and raid a pick & pull when you have some extra time.

I skipped the whole dual pulley thing and made an adjustable idler out of an extra P/S, A/C rack. Works pretty well, and I don't have to underdrive my alternator just to run two belts. You can see it in some of my albumn pics.

Damn i've never heard or seen that either. I have had zero problems from my dual alt pulley. I bought mine from CircuitTheory in Japan. Mine is a solid piece as well.
All of the doubles i've seen are one peice. I have a mazdatrix steel(brass?) and a non underdrive one with a little rotor logo on it thats Aluminum. Both have lasted years.
damn... maybe I just fail at life then... I'll check out the album rocket and see what you did. But I'm trying to keep a/c and p/s with my turbo set up.
Nevermind, I see how you did it. Maybe I might do what you did rocket. Anyone know where I can get a decent duel alternator pulley? I might want it just a wee bit under driven.
atkins rotary sells a good dual alt pulley.. its in their ebay store. i would consider my belts be tighter than average, and i've ripped through the rpms quite often.. almost a year and still no problems so you should check it out. :dunno:

http://www.atkinsrotary.com/store/pr...cat=640&page=1 Does anyone know if this is under driven or just at regular diameter? I'm skeptical about aluminum, but I don't want my water pump to slip at high rpms.
