smoother throttle control

since its getting cold... my rx7 has that cold start issue i've read about where it revs up to 2000-3000RPMs. but where as it gets warmed up, i sit in the car revving the engine. it doesnt rev up smoothly either, as where i have to apply light pressure to the gas pedal for balanced rev. unless, a little too much would make the rpm jump up already. as i rev the engine up, i can barely attain a stable 2000rpm or 3000rpm. it revs up to the ranges fine but then it drops and comes back up and repeats.

now i'm just wondering if its my throttle or something... i want something smoother than a jumpy throttle.

the AWS isn't an issue.....it was designed into the car by Mazda.

Have you tired checking your TPS? If you don't know how, it should be covered in the stickies.

Disconnect the TPS and rev the engine. If its still bounces, it may be a vacuum leak.

no, i wasnt talking bout the AWS at all "being the problem".. just saying i know about it. :icon_tup: i was more trying to get at "smoothing out the acceleration", as to what it does now

i'll give it a try

Sounds like a vacuum leak to me.

well, idk if its just for now or what.. but here's the details on what i did.. i started my car up until it was warmed up.. the AWS didnt kick in this time... i wonder if it was just cool enough today... the same thing still happened, revs bouncing up and down if i try to stable the rev at 2000rpm and 3000rpm. well, after the warm up, i turned it off engine. popped the hood open and disconnected the TPS. started the engine again, and the rev stooped to idle at 1000rpm... waited a few seconds and then revved up the engine. it revs smoothly up and down, and i can keep the revs at 2000rpm and 3000rpm with no problems now.. but since RotaMan99 didnt say anything about what to do after.. i turned the engine off and replugged the TPS. started the engine one last time and it revved just like when it was off. well, i hope it stays like that.

thanks RotaMan99!! it worked out great.. but that's weird, can you actually drive without the TPS hooked up?
