Smogging a car after a rebuild - a few question

Going in for smog with an engine that was just rebuilt. Literally only has about 5 miles from driving around and testing it. I'm not exactly sure how high they're going to be taking the Rpms to but am I going to be ok as far as not over revving the engine in this stage of the build?

IIRC, they test at 1k (idle) and 3k. The test wont be long and you'll be fine.

Congrats on the new engine!

should be fine, unless it's turbo and they get a have a lead foot for some reason..

Also, the Rpms as of right now are set at about 1500 and fluctuating, but this should be normal for a breakin with increasing compression building

if it is an enhanced area that may work if the car is put on a dyno, if it is a non enhanced area it will fail for ilde out of range, it must be 1000 or less for at least 30 seconds.

Sounds like you may need to take a bit of a road trip to break that sucker in sooner.

I'd like to, but to do that I'd have to get a temporary operating permit. I think they're only issued I the car fails smog. The reason being that you need an extended time to get parts for the car to pass smog.

I hate the CA DMV. /rant

I don't think I've ever heard a single thing about California and using their roads that I liked.

if you had the work done at a shop, just bring them the reciept and show them the engine was replaced and request a temporary 1 month permit.

the roads in CA are so bad that you can close your eyes (in the passenger seat!) and tell when you cross the border out of CA....

until you get to vegas and realize the roads here are actually worse even though freshly paved.

the shit may look nice but underneath the surface it is all crooked as hell.
