sleepy eye mod!
 

anyone wanna tell me how to do it!... ive been dying to do it but i have no clue... a friend of mine told me you can add a additional switch to that connects to the head light motors, and the switch allows you to turn on it on or off (the motor) its like a $3 mod... any one wanna post up some instructions? maybe some diagrams... im not a do it your self person but i wanna learn!

This has been talked about tons of times, you can search and find the manual way to do it (cranking the headlight motors with the retractor fuse out), pulling the fuse when the headlights go up, or hook it up to a switch.

cheap way : take oput headlight fuse, then get under car and turn white knob that moves headlights up and down. set both of them to the way you like them.

other way: spead money on a controler for them that will move them like that for you

but i dont get why people like this it just looks like your headlights are broke

I agree with gergrx7, sleepy eye headlights look broken! I hate them, there's no reason to do it, it looks bad, and it increases drag.

to remain civil I used someones words. :p:

you can't just take out the headlight fuse and do that. I tried it , took out the fuse, twisted the knob till I like how they look, put the fuse back in and my lights started going crazy. One would pop up and go down why the other was doing the opposite.

Duh, that's what should happen. You dont put the fuse back in... you leave it out. Therefore your headlights are sleepy all the time.

Quick simple explaination. Take out fuse - Crank headlights to desired height - YOU'RE DONE, leave the fuse out

Doing this mod will make your engine explode...


Hehe, SEARCH. I'd tell you but I never went out of my way to figure out how it works.

Which significantly reduces the performance of the headlights, since the stupidity of this mod.

Yep... I admit I did it once while my headlights were broken and I had to have them up somehow, but I agree they look awful.

JUST SAY NO MAN!!! I did it and 1. it looks broken. 2. visibility is decreased at night. Don't do it.

to refer to black91n/a,,, how much will it really increase drag???? having a total of a 3 inch by like 8 inch thing sticking up?? unless you are trying to hit like 200 miles per hour it will not make a difference, but still he is right,, they do not look good

it helps air flow to the intake if you make a lazy eye and take that seal around the hood around the right headlight.

air flow is better than losing drag...drag? wtf we arent going 188 mph here.

Have you looked behind the headlight? There is a WALL there pretty much, air cant magically go through this

its not like the headlights sticking halfway up are going to increase drag to where its noticeable, give me a break. saying "..and decreases performance!" is dumb. And saying anything like "..but the radiator gets more air with no FTP lenses!1" is also dumb. Blah.

It does decrease performance though. Maybe it isn't noticeable, but it does.

The point of the "it decreases performance" argument is because WAY too many people seem to think it increases performance by letting cooler air into the intake/engine bay area :rolleyes:

The fact of the matter is that no air is getting to your intake unless you did some serious hacking, but there is (whether noticeable or not) an increase in drag which hinders performance to some degree.

it's an asthetic mod. Some people like it, some dont. This goes with almost any mod of this type and we'll leave it at this. Don't slam the guy because you have different tastes.

Aesthetic or not... I think you are missing the point here. It decreases your night time vision distance. Because the headlights are not at the right angle, the light is not going as far. This is not safe no matter what way you slice it, ricer or not.

So every time night comes you put the fuse back in? That seems like kind of a hassle... Of course you could get the pivot thing that adjusts them in increments depending on what you set it at I guess, but why spend that much money so your headlights are only half way up during the day? If people want to do that, its all up to them...

I have never had any problem with visibility at night. The light is still at the right angle it's just sits lower, light shines through the ftps, there is no break in the light beam on the ground. If took the time to look at the setup before posting crap you would notice that the position of the light never changes it just moves up. The easy way is to pull your fuse, then turn the switch to put the headlights up and then just put the fuse in and out until you get the desired height, then leave the fuse out. No cranking required. Like I always say in these threads, it's an opinion, and he didn't ask for yours, so if you are bashing again, give it a break, he obviously doesn't care what it is cause he's doing it anyway, you're not going to sway him so drop it.
