'Sleek' or 'RE-A' style fixed lights?

Anyone done a 'Sleek' style or 'RE Amemiya' styled light conversion?

Currently I've got the FD and the S% apart (20B, possibly on the FD and the REW in the S5) and got to looking at the lights, lastnight, at the shop...

Came across THIS post, earlier and got to thinkin about the S5...

Hmmmm...

Anyone done anything like this conversion?

There is plenty of pics of the what the kit looks like on the web, from there its all about personal preference. Or are you just asking the complexity of the task?

I think for opinions your gonna get everything from love them to hate them. Example being I think the ones KidA linked are fuuuuuugly

TrboSpdAnt 06-04-10 12:35 PM

I don't think you guys looked at the think.... The ones in KidA's signature are still blocky and - as far as I'm concerned - fugly as hell.

The one's at the link (Let's repost, for a refresher, shall we?) https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=899208 as recessed, non-flip lights.

Everything I ever see if for people that don't want to do any alterations, simply plug-and-play and that 's not what I was asking for.

I want to know if any one's done a headlight swap that wasn't a part of the conventional norm.

Someone makes a flush mount dual projector kit on ebay. Its $499 for the non-hid.

Now, the question remains: Are there any pics of these actually ON a car?

BurntOrangeT2 06-05-10 03:47 PM

HAHAHA those are some straight Buster ass lights right there. Lord those are some Pieces of Shit.

$300 More and you get True HID projector's, who cares if they're pop-ups(check Sig). Anyone who's anyone knows the only "flush" lights you get are either the FC2K bumper or, the East Bear Lights.

DC 91 fc3s 06-05-10 05:07 PM

yeah i dont trust ebay crap.. always not what you expect and always made of CHEAP ASS material.. looks like weak plastic and im sure it doesnt fit perfect\

did you notice the gap between the plastic lens and the black housing on the right headlight.... and the screws that hold down the lens.. already signs of cheapy parts that are WAY overpriced

chatchie 06-05-10 10:22 PM

Call it what you want but we should consider ourselves lucky that people are actually still making "new" aftermarket parts for our aging cars. I wouldnt buy them, but they dont look that bad.

TrboSpdAnt 06-06-10 08:21 AM

Actually, the point that they're not the same kind of, "Look at my OEM pop-lights that have horrible retractor motors and look the exact same as EVERY OTHER 20yr old 7," lights.

The actual ones, specifically, are irrelevant.

I want the ones that I'd found a link to originally, 'cept for the FC...

BOT2: Those lights, in your sig may me bi-Xenon HIDs, but as far as I'm concerned, they're ugly as shit.... As Chatchie said, at least we can even HAVE this argument and that someone is making new stuff to enable us to do so.

The Ebay lights need some work, the idea is nice though. The price is way too high, i wouldn't mind getting a hold of the buckets they use, make my own lens & use better lights

^+1 That's actually pretty damned good idea!

A few years ago, a buddy and I made a set of dual projector, pop-ups that were independent housings... I think that they might be worth getting the baskets and going to town, modifying, though.
