Single Exhaust vs Dual Exhaust
 

I'm planning to replace the exhaust on my Vert.

I really would like to go with a set-up that is right

I've already planned to buy the Apexi N1.

But I don't know whether to go Single or Dual?

Anyone have suggestions?

Single will obviously be lighter, but to me the looks of dual if done right is just as nice or even better. Look at some pics and see how you would like your car to be. Its your car, do whatever you want. - Nick

Single will be lighter, but louder and especially with the Apexi N1 its gonna have an annoying rasp to it. If you are going single you might want to consider the options of muffler type and pre-silencer.
As far as a clean dual setup id recommend Racing Beat, it sounds decent and looks good without going overboard while giving you a bit of power.

But these are only my suggestions, Youtube has tons of video clips for you to look and listen. Its up to you what you ultimately want to get your jollies from.

for your application id say duals are better for you. A single could give the most power but it could even sacrifice some low end tq and noise levels. If you decide to go turbo and track your car id recommend single. But as a DD or if you need something other than stock id go with the Racing Beat exhaust. Again these are only suggestions. There are a few threads you can find using search button regarding other exhaust questions. Good luck with the research and buy.

Dual exhaust overall has lower noise and emissions, from what I remember. However, you get added weight. Power gains would depend on the particular exhaust system.

If you have the money i would go with the racing beat. It sounds great, is excellent quality and will support as much hp as you want to make. I have a single on one car and a racing beat on another and i by far prefer the RB.

Racing beat is the way to go when it comes to power/noise

i went dual apexi n1s and they look sick as fuQ, i get compliments on em all the time. Dont go single, everyone goes single, be different

Dual for sure on a street car. It really cuts down on noise and looks better IMO. Everyone always spouts off about how singles are lighter, but really you won't even notice on the street (and you'd have to be a really good driver to notice it on a track)

if you want a little louder but not to much louder, I would do this

Also single exhaust will get you tickets all the time, if not once a week at least once a month.

Ah, you know you want it so loud it shatters windows and shoots 10 foot flames.

I guess that would work to impress the junior high kids on your way out of the movie theater parking lot after seeing F&F4, but otherwise no.

I think the convertible is intended more for looks and comfort rather than all-out performance. Therefore, I think it is better with dual exhaust that has good noise suppression and gives the car a more balanced look from the rear.

For a non-turbo engine, the Apexi dual N1 with 90mm tips would probably work pretty well. The 115mm tips are entirely too large for an NA engine. FYI the turbocharger's turbine soaks up a lot of noise, so that is why turbocharged cars can get away with mufflers that do not suppress noise very well. Those of you who have NA engines should stay away from "turbo" mufflers.

Like others have mentioned in this thread, I think you would be better off with the Racing Beat catback.

The downside to RB is the weight.

On a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being stock 10 being an Apex Single, RB is a 1.5, though I will admit it looks better than stock (after you spend a bunch of time heating and aligning it)

For a given amount of backpressure, either one should perform the same. To get equal backpressure you need to run a bigger single system, which combined with 1/2 as many mufflers makes it louder, all else being equal, but it also makes it a bunch lighter. Looks is personal preference.

I'd rather have a lighter single, as long as it's not too terribly loud.

For a dual use car, I'd definitely consider a custom built single with a removable supertrapp on the end, then swap it out for a plain tip at the track. That way it'll be quiet on the street, but nice and free flowing at the track.

i personally love a single tip exhuast coming out the driver side with a slight angle and tilt.

I like the n1 duals on my vert. They sound really good with RB downpipe and no cats, but its loud. Go with the duals, I recommend them. BTW I wish I would not have wasted the money on the silencer inserts for them.

First, what are your goals for this car?

I installed mine and didn't have any issues. Didn't have to heat and bend shit. If you replace all the rubber hangers then it will work just as stated. And it's not stupidly loud but sounds good when you get on it.

I have a 1991 rx7 na i have racing beat true duel i love it it was worth the money
