Simple question - S5 and S4 shift knobs

Can a S5 shift knob work in a S4 tranny - not the top part that un-screws, the whole thing.

If so, will the M509 plate thing, that goes over top the shifter (the metal plate with the rubber attached to it) - will that fit over an S5 shifter?

Sorry if it's a silly question - i did search, i don't ask unless i've spent a considerable about of time searching first.

Thanks

The knobs are not interchangable without replacing the shifter.

But a S5 shifter will work on a S4 manual tranny and visa versa

awesome - that's what i wanted to know =)

Will i need to get the plate that goes over top for an s5, or will the plate that goes on s4s work.

I think the part number is M905

It's a metal ring with rubber in the middle that slides over-top of the shifter and bolts down
