Silly question...

Hello, i have a 10th AE rx-7 and i'm the 3rd owner, the history of my car is a lil vaque, but the second owner told me, the first owner was an old person, and so i assume my car is in fairly good condition as far as under the hood goes, i drive like an old person too because i don't have any money to fix it, my question is, if i drive my car, and never go past 3500rpm, is my engine more likely to last longer, also without going nuts and flooring my gas pedal at take offs and so on? just curious if not i wanna drive harder if so, then more grandma driving

The general thought is it is good to, "Clean things out" sometimes. There seem to be two ways to be hard on a car.
1. Never take care of it and run it hard.
2. Run it hard and take care of it.

I prefer number 2. These engines like to redlined but not done in a carless manner. Let it warm up before you redline it. (IE drive it 5 or so miles first). For a turbo car sometimes it is good to be easy on it sometimes (Gas is so damn expensive). But then you need to have fun with it and floor it to redline sometimes. But just take care of preventive maintance.

If you drive it like a grandmother why didn't you by a Geo? Have some fun with the car but take care of it:)

IMO: There is a careful line to be walked with the Turbo cars, on one side, yes you must and should drive it hard in order to keep the carbon build up low in a rotary.

Downside is with the Turbos this typically means a shorter engine life, but (again IMO) not as low as just babying the engine and letting deposits and acids build up.

There are plenty of Turbo FCs that have 120k miles or 150miles on them, by owners that didn't baby them.

I say, You have a sports car, it should be driven hard. if you have to replace, or rebuild the motor down the road, well deal with it then.
