Shuddering under quirky cirsumtances

I was not sure what to search for, so I wasn't able to get good answers :(
Please point me to the right thread!

Car will shudder while letting out the clutch in first gear and in reverse.

- Happens once car warms up, but not when cold. (i think :))
- Bucking/hesitation stops once clutch is in (even on very low rpms).
- Clutch is not slipping (i think :))
- Engine\Tranny\Rearend mounts seem to be just fine.
- Engine pulls smoothly during all RPMS.

engine mounts worn out or the flywheel is glazed

happened to me, and then my flywheel went out. seemed to happen when i was accelerating slowly from a stop. try to get the car moving quickly in 5th gear, the engine should die right away or else clutch is on its way out.

Flywheel? It can't be replaced with the engine in the car, can it? :(

Most likely not. You'll proally have to pull your engine to get it off.

You can find the directions for replacing your flywheel here if you decide that its the problem

sorry i meant clutch, not flywheel. although the flywheel should be resurfaced too if thats your problem.

If you are certain that the mounts are good, consider installing an RB engine torque damper to eliminate most, if not all, of the shudder. That's what it is intended to do and it does work pretty good. Only downside to it is that it transfers a bit of vibration to the body of the car when reving the engine and it is perceptible inside the car. Installation can be a bit tricky, however, since one part is installed by feel inside the drivers-side fender.

This happens to me sometimes too. I've noticed it only happens when I'm turning from a stop. I contribute this problem to having all my emissions stuff removed.

The clutch/flywheel can be replaced if you take the transmission off. However, if you have the equipment, taking the engine/tranny out as one piece is easier than just the transmission.
