hey guys, i just got my SAFC2 set up, and also my zeitronix wideband.

im a little concerned, probably because im going on a lack of knowlege in the field.

at idle, my AFR is 14.7

at cruise (anywhere around 4-5000 rpm mid low throttle i run around 14.8

at WOT i run around 13.5 - 9

this is a 1986 GXL NA, with exhaust and intake.

does this all sound ok, and where should i be changing these values??

12 seems to be the magic ratio for rx7';s
14 seems about right for stock thow...

For a N/a it sounds more or less normal .....to me.

About the idle and the 14.7. That might be normal IF you still have the emissions i.e. the airpump and acv on the car. If you don't have those items, it does NOT sound normal. IF the two items are NOT there, then you should be seeing something on the order of around 13 give or take.

If you have the two items, try this after warming the car up. Pull the Blue connector off the Relief solenoid. The afr should go numerically down to around 13 or so.

Cruise sounds normal with a working 02 sensor.

Wide open throttle sounds not unreasonable to me since its a N/A. Sorry, I have not had a wideband on my n/a for over a year and then only had it on for a month or less.

Turbo at full throttle I think should be in the 11's or low 12's. Sorry, I'm not an expert on that. Just hearsay.

p.s. its for a NA
also.. would the air tube that causes back pressure to open the 5th and 6th ports alter my AFR?
although i have no cats, i have kept that installed for correct operation

Nothing to worry about, your cars an NA. Nothing is going to blow from leaning out.

12 is, like i said.
Actually the best ratio is whatever you get by dyno tuning it. But 12 seems to be what most people go with

you can't just ask what's the best afr for wot, you have to get it tuned to see which afr makes the most power. not all rx7s are the same.

well, i just want a ballpark so i dont blow up my car - lol
ive got data logging on my wideband, so i can see the diference in power via 1/4 times.

will the airtube that used to go to my cat (that now goes to my downpipe) change my AFR?

No way...... By the way, where is your wideband sensor? Location.

And when setting the afr using the safc......do it in third and forth gear and on a long UPHILL grade. Put a load on that sucker. And start out with full throttle with the revs under 3000rpm so you can watch any transition at 3500rpm when the secondarys come online.

sensor location is 2 oclock right at the end of my downpipe before the silencer.

the furthest away i could put it without welding it to my chrome catback

Sounds like a reasonable place to put it.(the location)...where you put it. I was just curious and sort of making sure you didn't put it behind some catalytic converter. Just a idle thought on my part.

is this weird ----- at deceleration i am at 21 AFR all throught RPM range??
