should I replace rear e-shaft oil seal

Hi Folks.

I'm going to replace my broken TII engine with another one. The "new" one already has about 110k miles on it. So a mechanic told me it would be a good time to take off the flywheel and replace the rear eccentric shaft oil seal. Is this worth the effort or could it do more harm than good?
BTW: is the rear e-shaft oil seal the same as the rear stationary gear oil seal?

Thanks,

Harry

It is going to be so easy to do it.........if you can get a good price on the oil seal....I would say do it.

Yes, it is the same thing.

The rear main seal is a whopping $10 item, so I'd say yeah...do it. I believe the part number for all models and years is the same - 1668-10-556A.

The seal is cheap. If you have the means to remove the flywheel (54MM / 2 1/8" socket and big impact gun) then do it.
