Should i get a Griffin??

Hey fellas!..i need your help so bad.

This if for my 87TII that im about to put a new motor in. My old water housing and pump is all rusted and i dont think i want to use it again. I do have a very clean series 5 water pump and housing that came off a 91TII. Im going Haltech E6K. My main problems are:
1. Radiator
2. Radiator switch connector (located on the bottom driver side of the stock radiator)
3. Coolant level sensor connector.

Obviously my 87TIIs have the coolant filler on the water pump housing and not on the radiator. So in other words with the 89+ water pump/ housing i can only use a racing radiator (griffin or howes or something similar that they use for chevy) or the 89+ radiator. In this case i decided to go with a Griffin from Summit.

Question:

1) Never seen a Griffin or Howes radiator but it seems like they dont have #2 and #3 or atleast the threaded boss so i can put my old sensors.
2) I want heater for winter, is there any connection between heater and the radiator??
3) Anyone have this racing rads in their 7s????

PS im on a budget and cannot afford a fluidyne, i also heard that Griffins are about the same except fluidynes will take sensors(i think).....

Thanx in advance!

i have a 22x19 griffin in my n/a with a 2950 CFM permacool fan
workjs wonders but my water pump is failinf and i am begininngin to overheat, just make sure u make some kind of shroud or modify the stock one to fi on so it pulls air more efficiently through the radiator

where can i find info on the griffen radiator?

go to SUMMIT Racing's website.

crossbar17- cool..so you think the Griffin are good..and what sort of mods do you have?

Hey fcturbo2, I am looking for an aluminum radiator for my Haltech E6K project as well and was also leaning toward a Howe or Griffin from summit too. I want to relocate battery to passenger storage bin and put in a bit wider radiator. Can't beat the price:)
I believe the "thermo switch" on the bottom drivers side is an input to the ECU that signals the cold start behavior; cold start is programmed into the Haltech w/ signal from coolant temp sensor-so you don't need the thermo switch.
Low level sensor could be really usefull though. Don't know what I will do about that yet...Ian

BLUETII--Im hoping to get batt relocated and put my new together in this month.. Do you have all the stuff to relocate your batt yet???

BLUE TII 05-06-02 09:09 PM

I have nothing for the relocation yet. I work at an industrial electric company though ;) One of the techs is building a battle bot for some doctor and he is using Hawker Odysee batteries- those are tiny! I will probably go for something a little bigger- but still sealed.

Yeah i think im definitely gonna go with the Griffin rad.
