weapon r is universal ebay parts, needs some 'editing' done to it to make it work. I do not recommend.
Check this thread out, which phenomenally came up first in a search for 'intake kit' https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ght=intake+kit Good info before buying one. |
That's a poor excuse for an intake; Look at the design. Does it not seem WAY overly-gaudy to you?
If you're going to go with an aftermarket intake, you could end up improving or hurting performance. The benefit vs. cost will never be worthwhile on a close-to-stock n/a. If you must go with an aftmarket intake, though, make sure you've got a filter (preferably a relatively large surface area, thin, high-flowing paper cone filter, for best benefit vs. cost) in a cold air box that will actually seal out hot air, and also has room for sufficient amounts of fresh ambient air to enter. |
heres what i ran (corksprt intake /hks fitler/ air box

weapon R came on my car... it sucks
|
you will need an adapter for use on a s4 maf. the inlet is square, unlike the s5 which is round.

You can always fabricate something as well. The Intake I built for my car that I recently sold. The intake filter is from Amsoil so don't think its a cheap ebay cone filter because its blue. The whole system in parts cost me aroud $175
I know it will be asked and told to me; No, there are no negitive effects on engine performance with the AFM mounted the way it is. http://www.midnightgray.net/images/cai1.jpg http://www.midnightgray.net/images/cai2.jpg http://www.midnightgray.net/images/cai3.jpg |

same thing happened to me. It's ugly and doesn't fit. http://www.nathanwalls.com/images/rx7/intake.jpg I'll probably get a Bonez intake or something similar in the near future. EDIT:Actually, I may go with a K&N universal filter, as they cost much less. ...I know it's not a "current" thread (well, it is now:hahaha:), but it's not that old.:uhh: |

I was comparing the K&N filter to the whole bonez intake kit. The bonez filter by itself isn't much more than the K&N (from what I've found so far). |
I can't say much without being a vendor, but anyone looking for a real cold air intake needs to just sit tight for a few months. Something will be coming out soon that blows everything else out of the water.

the k&n drop in unit is the best. period. uses the STOCK cold air intake. OOPS!! did i mention it was a cold air intake? i sure did. heh. |
buttdyno noticed a big diff with the K&N, I got a new exhaust maybe amonth prior so I was already used to that difference
I'm working on turning the stock intake better, will write up what I'm doing Currently it seems better but it pulls in hot air from the rad at stops still (Which it does stock too, look at where it sucks air in the front) anyways you cut some plastic there, make a scoop I'm thinking flat facing the rad curving to the front of the bumper and make sides for it so it more so scoops the air in (Not like it'll be amazing, but better) I think they did a dyno of a "cold air intake" and the stock, the stock was like 5hp behind |
If all else fails, we can always rely on aaron. =D

Yes yes, I'm awesome. :)
I'm already treading the fine line between respecting and breaking forum rules, so until I am a forum vendor I'm going to keep my mouth shut. |
