Shooting flames?

So i just picked up my RB presilencer today (dont have pics yet but i'll take pics of the full system when i finish it) and i was just wondering of all the guys who do have the full racing beat dual exhaust set up, how many of you shoot flames or see flashes and what not. I mean dont get me wrong, shooting flames is to my liking and everything but cops are anuses in southern california and they'll pull you over for anything, that is to say not that they arent anuses everywhere else.

Anyway gimme a heads up if you have had a problem with this system or flames or anything else. Thanks guys.

Ya I have full Racing Beat exhaust and I shoot flames. But I need to rev up to about 7K RPM to get flames, so hopefully you're not revving that high around cops.

I have the headers, presilencer, and Dynomax cat-back. I have been told I shoot flames, but I am also leaned out pretty good on my SAFC-II now. I only shot flames when I was running 0% correction.

I'd have to say, I think if a cop saw you shoot flames, he could be pretty certain you wouldn't pass emissions. :)

I am pretty sure the emissions laws in Cali are pretty strict.

Yeah, that's gonna be the nature of the system, especially at high RPMs when you're running rich. You probably want to keep it down to 4k rpms or so, and just act like you're driving normally, with cops around anyway.

any engine with wide open exhaust will make fire, my buddys lawmower does too ;-P

cool lawnmower..... well thanks for the input guys, i dont run rich i run really lean but i'll get that fixed and hopefully be running right in the middle.

isnt lean bad on rotaries ? woulnt you want a richer mixture at high RPMS ??

nukeall 05-30-07 05:31 PM

also i have 2.5 in downpipe...had it made....gutted cat .(thanxs steve)then 2.5 exhaust can ... i love it but i havnt seen flames shoot out i wonder why ?

I have a turbo 2 with the rb rev2 system and i am not shooting flames think it is alittle on the lean side but when i had my engine that was running on one rotor it would shoot flames about a foot long and do it on demand lol

turbo will make less flames

its not particularly good on any engine, but on an NA rotary its not horrible. A boosted rotary and a lean mixture is a very very bad thing, but the NA's have a harder time pre-igniting/detonating even with a lean mixture. Reason its bad on a boosted rotary is that the engine partially relies on the fuel to cool the intake charge down enough to prevent pre-ignition. When you go lean the mixture doesnt cool down a lot and its much easier for it to auto-ignite. That makes rotaries go boom.

i have a tII with the rb turbo back( with deleted cat) and i shoot flames, people on the street tell me "dude your shooting flames from your exhaust" lol some of them get far from my back bumper, i wonder why.
