Shock and Strut replacement costs?

I'm curious, what did some of you pay for shock and strut replacement? Anything from aftermarket stock spec replacements at Midas to upgraded equipment done by independent shops. I'm interested in the installed cost, shade tree mechanics need not post.

My car had KYB GR2's on it when i bought it. Pretty sweet setup. They are $50 to $60 per shock/strut with springs included. So about $200 to $240 in the end Self installed

$50 ot $60 with springs? That would be worth it to go with new springs too. Thanks!

A shade tree mechanic is a do it yourself kind of guy (or woman?), sometimes does under the table auto repair for friends. He would be found working under the shade of a tree (hence the term). I have neither the know how or proper tools to replace suspension components so i don't want to know what you paid for the equipment, i want to know what it cost installed because i'm not a 'shade tree mechanic'.

One or two hours per corner, so multiply that by 4 times the shop hourly rate...

Sounds about right to me... The labor of this job will quickly add up to more than the cost of the parts. Most shops around here where I live charge $50-65 bucks an hour for labor. An experianced mechainic with air tools should be able to change all four corners in ~3-4 hours. A crappy shop that is looking to make a buck will take 6-7 hours. Shop around...Having a good relationship with the shop also helps.

WTH, links ?

shocks + springs for $60each, if not used or "inexpensive/cheap/ghetto" or stolen I'll love to know where to get them :)

My bad. Thats the price without springs. Just put the factory mazda springs on. Hardly any body roll. Sorry for the miss understanding.

BTW i'd like to know where i can get more pics of the girl in your avatar. :D

learn to repace them yourself or pay 3 times the price of the struts on the installation.
