shifter spins all the way around????
I was driving last night and i went to shift and it didnt want to shift right, i noticed that the shifter was slightly turned, i turned it straight and it shifted but was really loose and the shifter will spin all the way around!!! i took it apart to day there is absolutly no bushings only one shim and it was in two pieces. the "locator pin" comes all the way out kinda easyly, not sure if its supposed to or not. Is this why it spins all the way around???? i assume all i need to do is replace the bushings but someone please correct me if im wrong!!!!!
Thanks alot J GREENE |

i am pretty certain that is all you would have to do, i had to replace one of the bushings and it tightened mine up but mine never spun around, it just had 3 inches of play in all gears....aggrevating

make sure the bushing is not worn out, plus check your shifter screws , on top of the bushing

hey my shifter doesnt spring back to the center when im in nuetral. whats do be done here?

means you need to rebuild your motor, replace the transmission and sell your car to me for 300 dollars because that is ll it is worth now if it does that. ;) Actually the same thing happened to me. Just replace the bushings and the car will feel a world different.

i replaced the bushings and it helped a lil but still didnt spring back real good, but was A LOT BETTER then befor, i just bought a T2 and it doesnt spring back real well either. so i dont know. my guess is the boots.

mazda code # : 1748-15
its a package; a bushing with the groove, a gasket, and a spring. cost: 10$ CDN |
to get it to spring back you need to take the trans out and pull it apart somewhat. there is a spring on the selector shaft, you can't get to it with trans in the car.
