Shifter Question
 

Alright,

So I replaced my clutch today, and took out the shifter to drain the fluid and then put some new fluid in. I had the lower bushing (white) and upper bushing (blue), but inside there was broken bits. I think that the plastic piece inside of this part broke. Now the shifter is extremely loose. But I don't want to pay 40$ to repalce this whole piece. Also, it would be extremely hard to replace this piece as well. So is the ball at the bottom of the shifter supposed to have play inside this piece? or maybe its just my shifter bushings are bad, but they didn't seem too bad. idk, just weird that the plastic bits were broken and I didn't see any replacements for this part on mazdatrix...

You have an S5. Show us a picture of the bottom of the shifter, grooved part.

I have a s5. I have everything put back together now so i cant take a picture but yes there is a groved part.
