hypertek, did you notice a difference in fumes after you changed the boot? what kind of wrench did you use to get the metal plate off?

do you know of anyplace in the firewall that the fumes can go through? its pretty strong at times

why didnt i think of this b4?? mann i been suckin up exhaust fumes for months lol

to anyone who is gonna do this, be careful, the plastics are really brittle now, and that bottom right bolt is a pain to get to.

I agree, getting out the retaining ring is a pain in the ass without breaking plastic. I suggest getting some plastic epoxy just in the case you do break one of the plastic clip holders.

And the advantage of having it? I have a busted leather boot and in combination with a busted rubber lower boot, I had hot gas and exhaust entering into the cars cabin, not to mention lots of noise from rotating gears ad pavement. It works well, and is hella cheap at elimination the issue so why not? Plus, if your rubber inner boot is damaged, the heat will destroy your upper leather boot.

use a 10mm socket , and for the one on the bottom right, use a 10mm open end wrench. I havent drove the car yet. Hopefully that knocked out alot of the fumes.. ive been holding off on dating til i make the car more presentable lol. The cost of the boot was listed for $9.99 something like that. Its the small shift boot *out of 2 they offer*.
