Shift Problem
 

hey- ive got a 1990 non turbo auto 7...my problem is this- when the car shifts from first to second it seems to rev higher and shift harder, i dunno if this is normal it just seemed strange. also, if i "smash" the gas instead of shifting it somehow goes into neutral or something because it just revs the engine, its like it doesnt catch or something. please help.

Check your fluid.

transmission fluid? ive checked them all...

this seems to be a fairly common problem that many FCs came with from the factory

other symptoms include automatic shifting and poor performance

the only solution appears to be to switch it out for a 5 speed

ok my budget cant affor a tranny swap..other fixes?

My 87 has serious slip problems. Do a complete fluid change and it will help just a little. Mine slips to neutral when it shifts from 2 to 3 inless I plant my right foot, then it just skips 3rd all together. :/
