I use an old school wood ball, drilled to fit & sit down low on the shortened threads. There is a short piece of shaped heater hose under it for comfort & insulation.

I've heard certain Miata knobs will fit.

Was there a difference in shifter threads between S4 and S5?

s5 shift knobs.. use 1.25 M10 fine thread i think.
or was it 1.00 i can't remember... do a search.

for S5:

Yeah the S3 and S4 use thick shafts with Toyota style threads, while the S5 and S6 (and later) use the thinner Miata style shafts and threads

i have a generic silver universal shift knob from auto zone, and guess what! it serves the same purpose as all shift knobs, only for 15 dollars.

its also a lot smaller and looks a little better, it does improve my shifting capabilities.

anymore? what more do u want? that is pretty extensive already... since u know it will fit miata knobs goto a miata forum and see what those guys are using.

miata guys love accessories... and they aren't rice accessories either.

That would be a shift knob from the SC300, the SC400 only came with an auto tranny.

S4 = 12x1,5 mm
S5 = 10x1,25 mm

i just used the boot and knob from an older 323... the plastic wasn't threaded, but all you have to do is twist and it threads it for you and it works good
