serious problems! I need help!

So here goes:

I started a turbo project, decided to go standalone with a MicroTech (easy right?), I got the car running, no biggie. I had to adjust the throttle cable because im using an FD UIM and had to get it on there right. Now it doesnt start. Duh, TPS is no longer calibrated so....I re-calibrate the TPS, I also change the position of the coils, now no start. WTF? So I check spark, all the coils sparking. So i change plugs...gas? Plenty of gas, the plugs are soaked.... Now i unflood, still no start....Then I burn out a starter, IDIOT! So that gets replaced. I then decide to re-stab the CAS...Maybe my timming was bad. Still nothing, as a last attempt i try the ATF trick, but still nothing....what am i doing wrong? I have spark, I Have gas, I have compression....what can possibly be wrong? The car sound like it wants to start but nothing..I even tried push starting the thing, and that didnt work. Maybe my cranking map is wrong? I did have to start one from scratch, because my EMS did not come with one pre-loaded. Any how if someone has any insight ore help I would really appreciate it!

P.S. The computer is an LT10s...Ohh and sorry for writing in thoughts instead of sentences i know its a little annoying, but im really frustrated!

I think it will be tough to help you much but if you've got gas, spark, and compression then it is likely timing. Maybe if you have a base map for a near stock engine and you have really large injectors it's flooding. After you did the ATF trick do you still have too much gas? I'd like to help but to be honest, I've never got my microtech running 100%.

It's likely your map is completely off. What injector combo do you have? What's your cranking/load/idle map look like? If you datalog with the microtech you should see it say 'cranking' as you're attempting to crank, and it shouldn't say TPS_CAL or anything in the status. Also, you can get a pretty basic base map from the microtech subforum.

the injectors are 550/720, after the atf trick the spark plugs are still soaked from gas after cranking it a few times. The timing should be correct, like i said, i re-stabbed the CAS just in case. My guess is the map, i tried the values that silveroter had on the microtech sub-forum, but those didnt work for me. It just seems like something is not connected right.

Well, disconnect the MT from power (depending upon where you got it from, you can either remove the EGI fuses or just remove the connector), and crank over the car with the plugs out, get all of that gas out of there (you'll notice huge clouds of it coming out), don't crank much at once, just crank for about 5 seconds, stop wait a bit, do it again. Do this until there's no more clouds of gas coming out, use the base cranking maps in the microtech forum and try knocking about 5-10% off the values (they seemed to be rather rich for me!), clean your plugs up, put them back in, verify that EVERYTHING is connected properly (plug wires to the right rotors, etc). Then go ahead and try again, if you've got everything hooked up right and have compression, it should start.

SonicRat......in the cranking map, what do the -25 ~72 figures represent?

tcrown420 02-06-06 08:56 AM

Ill give that a try today.

Temp in *C on the left, and a percentage of additional fuel based upon either the idle or load map (not sure which)

Here's kabooski's crank values with a little more detai (I use similar values, and it seems to work well, however my idle/load maps are tuned pretty well)l:

Crank
124 C 00%
99 C +7%
82 C -2%
68 C +5%
60 C +15%
46 C +19%
38 C +30%
31 C +40%
24 C +50%
18 C +60%
11 C +60%
5 C +70%
-1 C +75%
-9 C +80%
-17 C +96%
-25 C 00%
