Serious Help needed...

Guys, i really need your help in identifying where a hose goes...i got a ton of oil leaking since my last oil change and i noticed a hose not connected to anything... can someone please post a picture of a closeup of the oil filter side of the engine? i am searching for a place where the hose coming from the charcoal canister connects to. i have done a crapload of searches but the engine bay pics arent close enough for me to see where the hose is connected to. i also checked my manuals but no luck either. hope someone has a clear picture of their engine bay near the oil filter and oil filler cap areas.

Looks like the cannister hose goes to the lower fitting on oil filler tube. Upper hose goes to purge valve. I would check the oil filter for tightness, as well as the gasket surface. It's possible they didn't remove old gasket if it remained on the engine. If it just started after oil change, good possibility.

the oil filter is tightly on and i degreased the engine bay...just need someone to post a clear picture of where the hose from the charcoal canister is attached to... can someone please snap a quick clear shot of the oil filter section of their engine bay...i have a 90 N/A vert.

Sorry to disappoint but I can't take a picture, camera's at the shop.

But I can tell you that the charcole canister on my 91 and my 86 goes to a metel piping rack.

One way to find out where you hose goes is to see how long the hose is and look for empty slots that are close by and deduse it location.

If we're talking about the same thing (charcole canister)
then you have two hoses on top and one on the bottom that does not go to anything

If you have a serrious oil leak it probably is not coming from or has anything to do with the canister.

You will want to check the oil cooler line that goes to the rear housing and is right underneath the starter.
And while you're at it check the oil cooler line on the front cover.

You will also want to check the Oil Metering Pump on the front cover because if any of those lines bust or come lose it will leak like a spaghetti collander.

ok i know the charcoal canister has 2 lines that run along the firewall...but one of the lines then goes down toward the oil filter area...where does it connect there? anyone else wanna take a stab at this?

Oh, okay Well let me go look for ya.

Hmmm. Well one line goes to the master brake cylinder and its the bigger one of the two.

The other goes to another metal pipe that is right by where your speedometer cable goes into the firewall.

That is:

The smaller hose from the canister hooks into the piping rack. That smaller metal pipe skates accross the fire wall towards the oil filter section and then becomes a rubber hose again. This rubber hose hooks up again to another metal piping rack that is right by where the speedo cable goes into firewall.

Now I'll just shut up about it.

If no one else helps and you haven't figured it out I'll post you picture on monday when I get to the shop.

thanks for the help...i found the little spout for it and wiggled it in...its deep under the back side for the oil filler neck. damn hard to squeeze in there, but i put it on and just my luck lost the clamp for it. hope that doesnt come back to haunt me.

Maybe not for the cannister.....But with these cars you never know.

They're like your girl friend. Very tempermetal and full of emotion- my RX is my girl friend. When I get in to cruise I say nice things to her before start up and pet the dash.

AS far as the oil leak goes.....

What's up with that? On my 86, my omp blew its seals and let me tell you driving five miles from where it started took a whole quart.
